Turnips-
Every Sunday morning from 6 am to 12 pm, Joan the Turnip peddler will be in your town. She will walk around so you have to find her, but when you do you can buy turnips from her.

White Turnips-
In the game, white turnips are kind of like buying and selling stocks. You buy how ever many turnips you want from Joan for how much she is selling them for. Then you have to go to Tom Nook and say "turnip prices!" and he will tell you how much he is buying them for.
(NOTE: Tom Nook does NOT buy turnips on Sunday. He will only buy them Monday-Saturday.)
The point of the turnip market is to sell the turnips for more than you bought them for. So you have to check Nook's every day to see if the price is higher than you bought them for.
You can also go to a friend's town that may have a high price to sell them.
THE NON-ROTTING TURNIP CHEAT:
I have heard from all over that there is a way to make it so your white turnips do not rot after one week. And that is to place a shovel or other tool on the floor of your house in front of a table with nothing on it. You are supposed to stand on the tool in front of the table and put the turnips on the table. I have tried this and personally it hasn't worked for me. But maybe I'm doing it wrong. If you have any comments on this then please email me at [email protected] or leave a comment on the home page.

Red Turnips-
Red turnips are more expensive than white turnips. One red turnip seed is 1,000 bells. Joan only sells one red turnip seed per week. You have to plant it and water the turnip every day to get it to grow, then at the end of the week you can pull it out of the ground and sell it for 16,000 bells. Or you can keep it for the whole cycle of getting golden tools, which you will need a red turnip for.

Mortgage-
Your mortgage for your first house expansion is 19,800 bells. But when you work for Nook, you will end up with a 1,400 bell deduction. To pay the rest of your mortgage, you have to go to the town hall and talk to Pelly or Phyllis. To find out more about house expansions, go to the Your House section .

*Hint: You don't have to wear work clothes when working for Nook. When he tells you to put a uniform on just don't put it on. He will say that it is okay if you wear normal clothes.
